HOW TO MAKE SALMON SUSHIPosted 4 July 2019 by The Saucy Fish Co.
Sushi. For any fish lover it’s a joy. Pure tastes of the sea with maybe a little sticky rice, a dash of soya and some wasabi to blow away the cobwebs.
Making your own sushi is easier than you think. And there are a number of ways you can go about it. Here are two of our favourites, both of which involve the glorious taste of salmon.
Salmon Nigiri: Okay, we’re going to say that you’ve already cooked the sushi rice. It can cause problems but should be easy if you follow the instructions.
Before cooking your rice make sure you wash it thoroughly and season it with a little bit of vinegar, sugar and salt. Rice done, roll it up into ball shapes. Then all you have to do is drape your thinly cut salmon over the top and serve. Maybe with a nice miso soup. Pretty simple huh?
Salmon sushi rolls: Okay this one takes a little more skill. You could do with a bamboo matt and you’ll need a nori sheet – this is the veggie stuff that wraps up the rice and fish. Cover the surface of your nori sheet with rice. Not too thick.
Now put a thin strip of salmon on top. Add some finely sliced cucumber for an extra burst of flavour. Roll it up tightly and give it a squeeze. But not too hard or it will all coming squirting out of the sides. Slice into portions and serve.
After all this hard work you deserve a good slug of Saki. Treat yourself.
