SIX SUPERFOODS TRENDING RIGHT NOW

Fish is a perennial superfood. It tastes great and is very good for you. However, there are always some newbies who turn up on the scene claiming to be the next big thing when to comes to healthy eating. Here are six ‘superfoods’ that could be making their way to your table in 2019.

Matcha green tea: It looks like something Shrek would drink but it delivers a mega dose of antioxidants in every sip.

Chaga mushrooms: They grow on birch trees and resemble a dark clump of dirt (we’re being polite). Studies show they slow aging, lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and help fight cancer amongst other benefits.

Turmeric: Is the bright yellow spice that does more than make you sweat. Expect reduced inflammation, boosted immunity and extremely glossy hair.

Maqui berries: Are dark-purple fruit that help with heart disease, eye problems and blood sugar levels amongst other things. They taste a little tart to us but many find them delicious.

Tiger nuts: Are small but full of fibre, vegetable protein, potassium and prebiotics. They also give you magnesium that’s good for blood pressure and healthy bones.

Cricket flour: Is flour made from... ground insects. Um. They might sound a bit icky but they’re packed with protein, magnesium and they’re gluten free.
