THE GOOD OLD JANUARY DETOXPosted 5 January 2017 by The Saucy Fish Co.
Have you eaten a little too much bad stuff over the festive period? Munched on too many mince pies or polished of the Quality Street? Don’t worry, we’re just as gillty.
That’s why we’ve come swimming to rescue and compiled a list of detoxifying foods that will leave you glowing throughout January – and the rest of 2017!
GINGER: Ginger is a firm favourite in many cleansing programs, as it purifies the body and stimulates healthy digestion and circulation. Adding ginger root to hot water is a great (and soothing) way to receive its benefits.
GARLIC: To get your detox in full swing, add plenty of garlic to your diet this January. This detoxifying superstar supports liver enzymes and helps the body to manufacture glutathione. We think that’s pretty fintastic.
BROCCOLI: This tree-shaped veggie is famous for all the good it does for you, working with your liver enzymes to transform pesky toxics into something the body can easily remove.
CORIANDER: The detoxifying powers of this herb are rather undervalued as coriander possesses disinfectant, antiseptic, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties. These are great for clearing up skin conditions such as eczema or dryness. (Bonus: it’s an excellent cooking ingredient that can be added to a huge variety of dishes).
HONEY: Honey is a miracle worker if you’re feeling run down after a little overindulgence. It normalises digestion process, strengthens the immune system, treats colds and even cleanses mucus in the lungs. Enjoy a glass of lemon, honey and warm water in the morning time and wait for any indigestion, bloating or dark circles to disappear.
ASPARAGUS: This gorgeous green is well known for the marvellous things it does for your liver - the organ responsible for filtering anything toxic from the body (…including all those Christmas tipples).
