'TIS THE SEASON TO BE... EXPERIMENTAL

Generally at their best when picked in cold weather (surely that’s most of the year in Britain) root vegetables are perfect for warming winter dishes.

Here are two simple seasonal sides to inspire you:

Honey Glazed Roasted Root Vegetables

Prepare your favourite root vegetables in an oven proof dish, we recommend carrots, parsnips, celery and beetroot. Then simply drizzle in a mixture of oil, honey and thyme, finish off with a pinch of salt and pepper, cover in foil and pop in the oven for 40 minutes. Find the full recipe here

Winter Parsnip and Swede Mash with Buttery Crumbs

Root vegetables lend themselves well to mash. Give the humble spud a break and try a mix of parsnips and swedes. Simply boil until soft and then mash together with soured cream, horseradish and thyme. Smother with melted butter and breadcrumbs, sprinkle with parmesan, salt and pepper then pop in the oven for half an hour until golden. Find the full recipe here
